What are the A and B Series?


 

 

The A and B Series are 4 four rides on public roads in the Adelaide Hills

Please note:
Normal road rules apply at all times. There are no special signs or ride marshals on any of the routes. 

All riders are responsible for their own safety.

The A Series is a personal challenge series based around four road rides in the Adelaide Hills.

The B Series is just the 50km and 100km rides

Riders who compete all events with an average speed of 15, 20 or 25km/hr will receive a Certificate detailing their performance.

Note: Audax members completing the A Series may be eligible for special awards

What do you have to do?

                                                                            

 Prior to doing the 50km Audax you have to nominate if you are doing the A or B Series

Time permitted for each event.  

                                                                                         

Each event is timed from the start of the event till the official finishing time. 
"You can stop but the clock keeps ticking".

The time allocated to Bronze events will be the maximum time permitted to complete an event. A rider finishing outside the Bronze time for any reason will not be recorded.

        A and B Series    Sun  Sep. 21 2008 Winery Tour    100kms

 

        Start. 8.00am  McLaren Vale visitors centre

        Nice ride around the wineries via Willunga, Ashbourne, Meadows and back to McLaren Vale.

 

A  and B Series      Sat  Oct.11th 2008  20th Anniversary Ride      100/200kms

 

Start  7.00am:  for 200km ride at Cudlee Creek Caravan Park.

Ride out of Cudlee creek going via Cambrai, Keyneton, Kapunda, Tanunda,Williamstown arriving back at Cudlee Creek C.P.

Start  12.00pm:  for 100kms  at Cudlee Creek Caravan Park.

To go Angaston and Kapunda and back to Cudlee Creek.

 

We hope both rides will finish around the same time and that everyone will stay on for the anniversary dinner at the pub.

Accommodation is available at the campsite as well as camping for those who might wish to stay the night. 

 

 

Please note: 

As the 200km events are scheduled to start before sunrise and perhaps finish after sunset. The following special conditions applying to lighting requirements apply to all participants

 

(1) two independent front lights and two independent rear lights must be available for use (i.e attached to the bicycle or carried). One of each must be permanently fixed to the bicycle, or to a permanent attachment (eg a rack, but not a rack bag)

 

(2) At night or at times of low visibility at least one front light (of fixed beam) and one rear light must be illuminated a rear red reflector must be permanently fixed to the bicycle.

(3)
A reflective vest ( or equivalent for a rider of a recumbent) must be carried and must be worn at times of low visibility.

 

Brevet cards will not be issued until a lighting inspection has been done at the start of this ride and the result recorded. If the lighting rules are breached during a ride, the ride organiser must disqualify the rider. The lighting requirements apply if any part of the maximum permitted time for the ride is conducted at night.

Additional items such as extra lights and reflective anklets are strongly recommended. 

On the day

                            

Arrive 30 minutes early to formally enrol, grab a map and be ready to go.

·         Ensure you and your bike are in sound working order.

·         Carry:

o        any tools you may need for repairs, and

o        water, nibbles or clothing you may require.

·         Check the web site or phone up for any last minute cancellations due to extreme weather conditions.

 The A and B Series are not races

                                                                    

However, participants are encouraged to organise themselves into groups enabling them to share the wind and work towards maintaining a higher average ride time than may be achieved by a solo rider.

 Entry fees are what will  keep this event going.

Normal entry (each event)  $16

Audax Australia members (each event)  $10
