Cycling Organisations:

Cycling For Pleasure Group -

Established in 1976, the Cycling for Pleasure Group (CPG) conducts an informal ride on alternate Sundays.  The emphasis is on leisurely cycling with frequent stops.  Anyone is welcome to join in.

We endeavour to programme our rides so that all riders, whatever their ability can find a ride to suit them.  Distances range from 20km city rides to 40 or 60km country trips.  Prospective new riders should check with the leader first to ensure that a particular ride is within their capabilities.  People under 14yrs must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Adventure Cycling Association - America's peak cycle touring organisation who have been responsible for the development of a number of significant long distance cycle trails in the United States including the new Lewis and Clark Trail following the route of the first Europeans to cross the country.  They publish excellent maps of routes throughout the country.

Auckland Cycle Touring Association website containing information on cycle touring in New Zealand and organised cycle touring events. There are links to some excellent photographs of overseas tours. 

Bicycle SA is the largest club representing recreational cycling in South Australia.  It has a large rides programme and carries out an extensive education program.

Bicycle Institute of South Australia (BISA) is the smaller of the two South Australian recreational cycling organisations. It has a major focus on advocacy and has a high reputationion for the quality of its work.

Bicycle Victoria organises the highly successful "Great" bike rides in Victoria and elsewhere.  It is also the main cycling advocacy group in Victoria.

Bicycle New South Wales is one of the larger cycling organisations in Australia.  It runs the "Big" rides in New South Wales.

Bicycle Federation of Australia is the national umbrella organisation representing a number, but by no means all, of the recreational cycling groups in Australia.

Australian Bike Friday Club website is the place to go to get information on Bike Fridays in Australia.

Cyclists Touring Club - CTC - with nearly 80,000 members it is the largest cycling organisation in the United Kingdom.  It has extensive touring information on Europe and elsewhere in the world available to members.

Cyclo-Camping International is a French organisation promoting cycle touring in France and around the world. The site includes access to their homestay directory. In French only.

Dansk Cyklist Forbund is the premier recreation cycling body in Denmark.  Its web site which is also available in English has extensive links to websites containing touring information.

Melbourne Bicycle Touring Club, the premier cycle touring club in Melbourne has an extensive rides programme and a wide ranging links page.

Pedal Power ACT - Based in the national capital, Canberra, PPACT is one of the more active cycling groups in Australia. Their website contains a wealth of information on cycling around Canberra as well as overseas.

Peninsula Pedlars are an enthusiastic cycling group from the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The friendly people have some great rides which are renowned for their food and enjoyment.

Bicycle Fish - an iconoclastic and down to earth site containing a wide range of valuable information for independent cycle touring in Australia and internationally. Includes a bicycle travellers' message board and a home host accommodation network.

Bicycles Network Australia - an Australian focused cycling search engine with links to bicycle shops and clubs.

Tom's Cycling Website contains information on his cycling tours and cycling around Adelaide.

Syd Winer has an excellent and informative site with lots of great photos of his cycling in South America.

Bicycle Touring is Cheryl Kline's website with a great collection of links to cycling related websites. It's a great source of information for anyone wanting to go touring.

Sheldon Brown's website contains a wealth of information on bicycles and bicycle touring including an interesting reprint of an early guide to taking bikes to France.

Camping France - this website claims to have all 10,800 or so French campgrounds listed. It can be easily searched by name, town or region. Available in French or English.

DO-IT-YOURSELF BICYCLE TOURS AND VACATIONS - Norman D. Ford's down to earth website contains a wealth of information on cycle touring and articles about the author's many cycle tours around the world. 

Fancy riding a stage of the Tour de France and joining 8,000 other cyclists riding through the Alps or the Pyrenees? Check out this website for factual information, training tips and great photos of the Etape du Tour.

European Bike Express operates specially built buses and trailers to carry cyclists from England to Europe. It has a number of routes across France to Switzerland, Italy and Spain.

German Railways - an easy to use site where you can find the trains that carry bicycles. In English, it includes railways of a number of other European countries. Just click on the 'Means of Transport' button and then the 'Bike' button when filling in your enquiry.

International weather forecasts for a wide range of cities around the world available easily and quickly.

Ken Kifer's individualistic website provides access to a wealth of information on the internet as well as bicycle touring and cycle related links.

Mike Bedard and his wife make annual cycling tours in France. The stories of these trips are some of the more interesting ones available on the internet.

Recreation Travel Library is a specialist website containing travel stories on all forms of recreation travel including cycle touring.

Relax Chez Nous - developed by the owners of a gite in a very attractive part of Brittany, this site has wide ranging links to provide information on holidaying in Brittany, cross-channel ferries, French weather, buying property in France and much more. A great place to start looking for information if you are thinking of a holiday in Brittany.

Roaming the Earth by Bike - A German site dedicated to long distance cycle touring with stories and links.

The Russian Cycle Touring Club - A Russian Cycle Touring Club that is quite informative and a enjoyable site

Team Snail is an interesting website with lots of fantastic photos of cycling in Provence and the French Riviera. It's well worth a visit.

Trento Bike Pages provides access to possibly the largest range of bicycle touring narratives on the web. Just select the country your interested in and choose your story.

Travel with bicycles - practical information on taking bicycles on all forms of public transport. There is an extensive amount of information on cyclists experiences transporting bikes by air since September 11.

World is Round - a site containing travelogues and photo galleries of trips and places from around the world. There is a small number of cycling pages at this stage including photos from Tea Tree Tourers trips.
